It’s been said that in the darkest hour, the first thing humanity sacrifices is culture.  The poetry of art and music seem insignificant and frivolous when we are faced with great tragedy and profound suffering.  However, we at Gallery 89 believe that it is precisely our collective faith in beauty and poetry that will get Steamboat through these chaotic and frightening times.  Let’s not forsake our galleries and our bookstores.  It is these bright beacons of art, culture, and learning that have brought our special city so much joy, beauty, and spiritual depth.   Now is the time to pull together as a community to keep Steamboat’s artists creating, our galleries buzzing, and all our residents contemplating works of great wisdom and beauty.   “Beauty is truth, truth beauty, — that is all Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know” –Keats
